How to create a web link

To create a web link in your text:

Navigate to the page that you wish to edit using your website's normal navigation features, or just type in the address of the page into your web browser.

Click on the ‘Edit Page’ button in the Toolbar.

Edit Page button

Find the text that you want to edit and then look in the top left corner of the text. There you will find a button that you can click to open the menu* shown below.

* On versions prior to 3.2 the menu was represented by a button bar instead.

Module Controls

This menu provides access to tools for editing the text module.

Note that there may be more than one module on your web page, each one has it's own menu.

Click the 'edit text...' link in the menu.

A new window will open on top of your web page. This is the Text Editor window.

Text Editor Window

Select the text that you wish to make into a link and then click the Link button.

Link button

This will open another window into which you can type the web address for your link.

If you are linking to a document in your media library, rather than a web page, then you will need to find out what the address of your document is. To do this click on the Libraries button in the Toolbar, click the Document Tab and then click on the document you want to link to. The address of the document will appear at the top of the Media Library. You can copy this address and paste it into the box in the Link window.

Media Library

Click OK on the link window and your text will be converted into a link. Click OK on the Text Editor to update your page.

Click the Publish button in the Toolbar, to commit your changes to your website, or click the Save as Draft button to save a copy of the page for later review.
